Georgia Laval is a freelance editor, proofreader and ebook developer based in the Scottish Borders. A graduate of the Publishing Training Centre and a Professional Member of the Society for Editors and Proofreaders (whose code of practice she follows), she has a sharp eye for detail and a clear understanding of the ways in which individuals and businesses can make the very most of their written material – whether it's for print or digital, traditional or self-publication.
Georgia has a BA (Hons) degree in Creative Writing and a keen interest in both literature and the rapidly increasing influence of digital technology on the publishing industry. Having run a freelance editorial business for a number of years, she has extensive experience of:
- editing (substantive and copy-editing)
- typesetting for print publication
- formatting and conversion of text files to ebook for publication on Kindle, iPad, Kobo, Nook and more
- Microsoft, Apple, Adobe and Oxygen (XML editing) software.
A key aspect of Georgia's work is the rapport she develops with her clients, as demonstrated in testimonials. This is achieved in part through a bespoke approach to each project; she tailors her methods to suit clients' particular needs, maintaining a responsive and highly professional service throughout. She also takes pride and enjoyment in her work, and this translates both in working relationships and in finished products.
